Jason ' JT ' Thomas began playing at age 3 and shortly thereafter began playing at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas by age 7. Born and raised in Weatherford, Texas, JT began studying music and also performing with the highschool jazz band while he was still in Jr. High. At age 16, he began playing locally with a few gospel groups, and soon after graduating, with local R&B bands, with whom he caught the attention of famed R&B Group, Yarbrough and Peoples, and started touring with them nationally as well. During this time he also began attending Weatherford Jr. College, who was very well known for their Jazz program at the time, and where he would also meet saxophonist Keith Anderson, who years later would introduce him to Les McCann and Roy Hargrove. While at college, JT received the great opportunity to travel internationally--performing in Taipei, Taiwan--Jakarta, and Bali, Indonesia, exclusively for the Grand Hyatt Hotels, Intercontinental Hotel, and club JAMZ, a famous jazz club in Jakarta where artists such as Chick Corea, Bob James, Earl Klugh, and many more had performed. These days JT can be seen and heard on stages all over the world with the likes of Roy Hargrove, Wayman Tisdale, and Les McCann, and can also be heard on new releases by Marcus Miller, Fred Hammond, Kenny Lattimore/Chante Moore, Natalie Grant, and Keziah Jones. **JT exclusively plays Yamaha Maple Custom drums** artist since 2004
